Privacy Policy for ChatGPT Spark

ChatGPT Spark ("we", "our", or "the extension") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your information when you use our Chrome extension.
ChatGPT Spark is developed and maintained by Chinmay Shrivastava as an independent project. We believe in transparency and want you to understand exactly how your data is handled.
Information We Collect
1. Conversation Data
When you choose to save a conversation, we collect:
- The content of your ChatGPT conversations (questions and responses)
- Timestamps of when conversations occurred
- The URL of the ChatGPT page
- AI-generated summaries and topic tags of your conversations
Important: We ONLY collect conversation data when you explicitly click "Capture Current Chat" in the extension. We do NOT automatically collect or monitor your ChatGPT conversations.
2. Usage Analytics
To improve the extension, we collect anonymous usage data:
- Prompt quality scores (anonymized)
- Feature usage statistics (which features are used most)
- General conversation metrics (number of turns, not content)
3. Technical Information
- A unique installation ID (randomly generated, not linked to your identity)
- Extension version number
- Basic error logs for debugging
How We Use Your Information
We use the collected information to:
- Provide Core Features: Enable AI coaching, conversation analysis, and memory search
- Generate Insights: Create AI-powered suggestions and prompt improvements
- Improve the Extension: Understand usage patterns and fix bugs
- Save Your Memories: Store conversations you explicitly choose to save
Data Storage and Security
Where Your Data is Stored
- Conversation Data: Securely stored in Supabase (encrypted PostgreSQL database)
- Local Data: Some preferences stored locally in your browser using Chrome's storage API
- Processing: OpenAI API is used for AI analysis (see their privacy policy)
Data Security Measures
- All data transmission uses HTTPS encryption
- Database access requires authentication
- Each user's data is isolated using unique identifiers
- We follow industry-standard security practices
Data Sharing and Third Parties
We do NOT:
- Sell your personal information
- Share your conversations with third parties
- Use your data for advertising
- Allow any third-party access to your data
We only share data with:
- OpenAI: For AI analysis features (prompts only, not stored)
- Supabase: For data storage (our database provider)
Your Rights and Controls
You have complete control over your data:
1. Access Your Data
View all your saved conversations in the Spark dashboard
2. Delete Your Data
- Delete individual conversations through the dashboard
- Request complete data deletion by contacting us
3. Export Your Data
Download all your conversations using the Export feature in the dashboard
4. Opt-Out
Simply uninstall the extension to stop all data collection
Data Retention
- Your conversation data is kept until you delete it
- Anonymous analytics are retained for 90 days
- If you uninstall the extension, your data remains available if you reinstall (unless you request deletion)
Updates to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by:
- Updating the "Effective Date" at the top of this policy
- Posting a notice in the extension (for major changes)
